Welcome to three new advertisers who are three old friends: Chris Bennett, Emory Grodek and Joe Mekler:
Chris Bennett is the owner and founder of Bopworks Drum Sticks, authentic historically accurate jazz drum sticks with exact replicas of those used by Art Blakey and Mel Lewis and other standard sticks of the Jazz eras. The Not So Modern Drum Shop will be carrying these sticks online and Chris has some new models in the works which will be announced shortly.
Emory Grodek is the owner of the Drumatix Vintage and Collectable Drum Center in Buffalo New York. His ad features the replacement handle for Slingerland Clam Shell Strainers that he manufactures. The orignal ones broke very easily because of a weak point. Emory's handles are made of stronger metal and are guaranteed not to break.
Joe Mekler is the new organizer and promoter of the Delaware Drum Show which happens February 26, 2017. The torch was passed to Joe after founder Joe Gilday passed away. The Delaware Drum Show has been a very consistent event for many years and is always well attended. Not So Modern Drummer will be supporting the 2017 show with a door prize of the NSMD Back Issue Collection of paper magazines still in print - 31 magazines worth $155. Good luck, Joe, and thanks for carrying on this tradition. You are definitely THE right guy to do it!
Don't forget the Chicago Drum Show, May 20 and 21, 2017. Not So Modern Drummer will be there with a showing of the Snare Drum Olympics instruments. http://www.rebeats.com/drumshows_start_page.html
We are still raising money for Alphonse Mouzon. Alphonse Mouzon is one of the greatest drummers in the world and a pioneer of fusion drumming. He has been diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer along with other complications and needs very expensive surgery. To donate to keep Alphonse alive please go here https://www.gofundme.com/AlphonseMouzon. See the long list of Alphonse's accomplishments in music here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alphonse_Mouzon
